Ile de la Giraglia

Île marquant la pointe la plus au nord de la Corse.

Elle est orientée à peu près Nord-Sud, c'est un rocher blanchâtre, escarpé.
Une vielle tour carrée est perchée sur le plus haut point de l'île.

Le phare, tour ronde, avec soubassement blanc, forme un groupe avec la vieille tour génoise et s'élève au Nord de l'île: éclat blanc: 5 secondes; hauteur du foyer à 85 mètres; portée 34 miles; très puissant.

Les îlots, Giraglia, Finocchiarola et Capense abritent de précieuses colonies d'oiseaux marins : rares goélands d'Audouin, cormorans huppés, puffins cendrés... et des plantes rares, comme la plus petite marguerite d'Europe.Si vous tournez autour de l'île faites attention qu'à environ 200 mètres dans le N-W, il y a une roche non balisée à fleur d'eau.

Il y a 2 débarcadères, un côté Ouest, un côté Est, afin de pouvoir débarquer à l'abri du temps régnant. Vous ne pouvez pas y séjourner car ces débarcadères sont réservés au bateau ravitailleur de l'île.

Un chenal vous permet de passer entre l'île et le cap. Les fonds sont sains sur 1500m au large. Il y a du courant dès que le vent se lève, dans le même sens que lui.
La pointe extrême du cap est surmontée par la tour de la pointe d'Agnelo.

Giraglia island lies N of the peninsula of Cap Corse, 1 mile NNW of Punta d’Angelo. This small island lies at the N end of the coastal bank and is steep and surmounted by an old square tower. A light is shown from a prominent tower, 26m high, standing on the N part of the island.

The islets, Giraglia Finocchiarola and capense shelter valuable seabird colonies: rare Audouin's gulls, shags, Cory's Shearwaters ... and rare plants, as the smallest daisy Europe.

A rock, awash, lies about 0.2 mile W of the N extremity of the island and a shoal patch, with a depth of 5.3m, lies about 0.2 mile S of the S extremity of the island.

There are two docks, one at west side, one in east side, in order to disembark sheltered from the weather prevailing. You can not stay there because these docks are reserved for the supply ship to the island.

You can switch between the Island and Cape by a channel. The funds are safe in the 1500 m offshore. There is current when the wind gets up in the same direction as him.
The extreme tip of the cape is topped by the tower to the tip of Agnelo.
