The Rio Sao Francisco do Sul flows into the sea by two mouths situated 19 and 37 miles, respectively, S of Baia de Guaratuba, and separated by Ilha de Sao Francisco. The N entrance leads to Porto de Sao Francisco do Sul on the NW side of the island. The S entrance is almost entirely obstructed by sand banks, on which the sea breaks violently. t is possible to anchor in front of the jetty on the waterfront and also off the jetty by the museum in the downtown area.
Further into the bay, there are pontoons at the yacht club at
Joinville and one at the Iate Clube de Capri. The channel to which is
quite shallow and approach need to be made above half tide in most
yachts.
