Lighthouse

Description

The old Razzoli island lighthouse, built in 1843, stands on a rock that falls sheer to the sea. Near is the new lighthouse.

Razzoli lighthouse is one of the last to have been inhabited and guarded. Before the advent of electricity, the big acetylene lamp required the work of many people so in the building lived three families. In 1969, due to damage on the perimeter of the lighthouse, it was difficult to keep staff on site, the building was declared as no longer habitable. It is currently abandoned.
A solar panel system automatically runs the new Razzoli lighthouse: another tower in front of the N face of the old building. It was built in 1974. Its white light has a range of 13 miles. A red light at low speeds, indicates the danger of Lavezzi.
