Description

The barrier reef extends from Baura to the island of Mavaidu, about 20 miles SSW. From N to S, the islands of Hanimadu, Noliwang Faro, Nuriwari, Kuludu Faro, and Komangdu form the E side of the atoll, and have wide openings into the atoll on each side of them. 
All the islands on this side of the atoll were inhabited in 1970, as well as ten others within the lagoon.
