Golfo di Orosei entered close S of Punta Nera, is bordered by a shorebank which extends 4 miles SW of the N entrance point. This stretch of the coast should not be approached closer than 1 mile due to the alluvial deposits brought down by Fiume Cedrino.
The land behind the shorebank is low and marshy, but the rest of the coast of the gulf is mostly high, steep, and inaccessible.
A wreck, with a depth of 8m, lies about 1.2 miles offshore, 1.7 miles SSW of Punta Nera.
