Port de Merrien, a small haven, lies in the lower reach of an entrance to the River Merrien. It is sheltered by rocky ledges which extend S from each entrance point and are marked by buoys. This shallow haven dries and is used by fishing boats and yachts.

Le port de Merrien se cache derrière une pointe de lande et de bois surmonté d’une construction en pierre de taille « la maison des douaniers». Dans le port, on élève et vend des huîtres et des coquillages. Jean Merrien, écrivain local a choisi ce nom pour publier ses œuvres, il y décrit la beauté et la magie de ce lieu.

Iles de Glenan are a large group of islands, islets, and reefs which lie on an extensive bank. Several narrow channels lead between the islands and shoals of Iles de Glenan, but they are only used by small vessels with local knowledge.

Doëlan is partly sheltered by a mole which extends from the W side of the entrance. The harbor is used by fishing boats and yachts and can be approached via a channel which is indicated by a lighted range.
