Description

Boca Chita is a small island that is located approximately 12 miles south of the Cape Florida lighthouse on Key
Biscayne, and Boca Chita Key is located approximately
9 miles from Convoy Point.

At one point, Boca Chita was privately owned and as the owner was preparing the island for his own private use until which time his wife was fatally injured on the island.  
She later passed away due to the injuries sustained.
He found the memories too deep to continue to work on developing the island of Boca Chita and transferred ownership of the island.
Boca Chita is now owned and maintained by the U.S. National park services.
The fish are abundant, the water is clear, the location beautiful and facilities clean.

The charts are necessary for navigating your vessel through the shallow bay and coral reef areas.  NOAA nautical chart #11451 "Miami to Marathon and Florida Bay" that includes all of
Biscayne
National Park. 

All plants, animals, and artifacts are protected!  Do not disturb them!

Do not cut mangroves or any other vegetation in any manner.
Do not hang, tie, or attach anything from trees or structures.
Coconuts may only be collected from the ground.

No pets allowed on Boca Chita Key.
No pets allowed on vessels in the harbor or attached to the island.

The sand beaches are closed from
May 1 - August 15 for sea turtle and shorebird  nesting.

Fires must be kept in grills and personal grills may not be placed on the boardwalk (dock), or picnic tables. 
Dead and downed wood may be collected for burning only in the vicinity of the campgrounds.

Swimming is not permitted within the harbor, the no wake zone, or in designated turtle/bird nesting zones.

State salt water fishing licenses are required.  Biscayne Bay is a lobster sanctuary and lobstering is not permitted there.  Full updated fishing regulations are available from any Park Ranger.
Do not dispose of any fish remains in the harbor or within 200 feet of the no wake zone.
On Boca Chita Key, fishing is allowed, but not in the harbor, the no wake zone, the creek leading into the wetlands, or the western bulkhead of the island.

Who writes this stuff?? It was owned by the late Gov E D Rivers who passed it to his kids then the state of Florida took it in the 90's (very cheap purchase) siting no individual could own barrier islands.

Boca Chita est une petite île qui est située à environ 12 miles au sud du phare de Cape Florida sur Key Biscayne, et Boca Chita

ATTENTION!!! --- LES MOUSTIQUES SONT VRAIMENT MAUVAIS PENDANT LES MOIS d'ETE!
À un moment donné, Boca Chita était privée et le propriétaire préparait l'île pour son usage personnel jusqu'au moment où sa femme a été mortellement blessée sur l'île. Plus tard, elle est décédée à cause de ses blessures.
Boca Chita appartient maintenant et au services du Parc national des
États-Unis qui l'entretient.
Les poissons sont abondants, l'eau est claire, l'endroit magnifique et les installations propres.

Les cartes sont nécessaires pour la navigation de votre bateau dans la baie peu profonde et les zones de récifs coralliens. Voir NOAA carte marine # 11451 "Miami à Marathon et la Baie de
Floride" qui comprend tout Biscayne National Park.
Toutes les plantes, les animaux et les objets sont protégés! Ne pas les déranger!
Ne pas couper les mangroves ou de toute autre végétation de toute autre manière.
Ne raccrochez pas de bout à des arbres ou autres structures.
Les noix de coco ne peuvent être collectées à partir du sol.
Les animaux ne sont pas admis sur Boca Chita Key.
Les animaux ne sont pas autorisés à bord des navires, dans le port ou sur l'île.
Les plages de sable sont fermées à partir de 1 mai au 15 août pour protéger les tortues de mer et permettre la nidification des oiseaux de rivage.
Les feux doivent être faits dans les barbecues personnels et les grilles personnelles ne peuvent pas être mises sur le trottoir de bois (quai), ou des tables de pique-nique.
Le bois mort tombé au sol peut être récolté pour le feu uniquement dans le voisinage des terrains de camping.
La natation n'est pas autorisée dans le port, la zone "sans vague", ou les zones désignées où les tortues et oiseaux font leur nidification.
Des licences de pêche d'État en eau salée sont nécessaires. Biscayne Bay est un sanctuaire de homard et la pêche au homard n'est pas autorisée là-bas. Le règlement complet de pêche, mis à jour est disponibles à Ranger Park.
Ne jetez pas les restes de poisson dans le port ou à moins de 60 m de la zone "sans vague".
Le Boca Chita Key, la pêche est autorisée, mais pas dans le port, la zone "sans vague", l'anse qui mène à la zone humide, ou l'extrémité Ouest de l'île.
