Punta Arenas is low and sandy. It is fringed by rocks which extend to about 0.2 mile offshore.
A fishing village is situated on the S side of the point.

Punta Algodonales is S Algodonales bay where is located the city port of Tocopilla.The tip is overwhelmed by islets (Roca Roca Blanca Duendes) and rocks. Islote Blanco is the largest of the islets and rocks and has a lighthouse, tower 8 m high.
Punta Lobos is steep with several hummocks on its end. About 2,5 NM NE of the point, a montain rises to a heigh of 900 m. The point can be easily recognized for a long distance by Islotes Pajaros, two white steep-to islets lying about 1.5 NM SE and 0.5 NM offshore.
Punta Patacha, S Punta Patillos and Caleta Patacha, is low and salient. Punta Patacha Terminal is the salt loading terminal of Punta de Lobos.
