The entrance to the 6 foot minimum depth Lignumvitae Channel lies just west of the like-named Key. Cruiserheaded for this cut from the ICW can leave the Waterway's track, 6 M SW of unlighted daybeacon #91A. The Northernmost aids to navigation on the Lignumvitae Channel are unlighted daybeacons #15 and #16. From this point, the passage weaves its way generally South to a juncture with the 10 foot (fixed) westernmost pass-through of the Upper Matecumbe-Lower Matecumbe Key Bridge.
Not only are some the chennel's twists and turns a bit navigationally challenging, but just N of its meeting with the 10-foot fixed span, this cut intersects the Power Line Channel. The various markers are at the juncture can be monumentally confusing. We will carefully detail this strech in our navigational section below. All cruisers are strongly advised to review this upcoming account in detail.
